FAQs

Q How can I find about more information about the vacancy?
A Once you have carried out a vacancy search, simply click on the underlined vacancy title for a job description and a link to apply.

Q Can I submit a Speculative CV?
A All applicants need to apply via a specific position via the website as the Guardian does not accept speculative CVs. However, we do offer a vacancy alert function that allows you to specify the job type you are looking for - allowing the job to come to you! Simply carry out a search via the Vacancy Search Page and you will see an option to register your email address for future alerts.

Q How do you go about selecting people?
A The initial selection is via the application form. Candidates will be invited to attend a series of interviews on the basis of their application. Recruitment specialists and line managers from the area to which you are applying conduct these interviews. In some cases, aptitude and psychometric tests may also be used as may assessment centres and various skills based and technical IT tests.

Q How long does it take to let me know if I have been successful following an interview?
A We try to respond to all candidates as soon as possible, usually within a week of the interview. However there are some occasions when delays are unavoidable - for example when interviews are spread over an extended period of time. In addition, in some cases we may not inform candidates that they have been unsuccessful until an offer has been accepted by the favoured candidate. Please note that GNM will respond to all candidates via email only.

Q I applied to GNM a while ago and was unsuccessful, can I apply for other roles?
A You are welcome to apply for other roles.

Q Can I send you my CV or complete a paper application form?
A It is GNM's preference that all applications are made online. However, if you have a disability, we will make any reasonable adjustments to ensure people with a disability are not disadvantaged compared with non-disabled persons through the selection process. Please call 0207 886 9840 or 0207 713 4637 (we welcome typetalk users) to let us know what reasonable adjustments you need to apply. Alternatively email reasonable.adjustments@guardian.co.uk. We will only consider applications made by completing a form.

Q What opportunities are there for career development?
A GNM is committed to producing quality products and services through its employees and will seek to ensure that they receive up-to-date, relevant and effective training and development in pursuit of the highest levels of competence and quality at all times. See the Training and development page for further information.

Q Is there the opportunity to agree work-life balance arrangement?
A GNM recognises that employees require a balance between work and the wider context of their lives and is committed to enabling this balance through the consideration of flexible or work-life arrangements.
